PVC blister packaging uses a thermoformed PVC or PVDC forming film with an aluminum foil lidding. It provides standard to moderate moisture protection and is suitable for most ambient-stable tablets. Alu-Alu (cold-form) blister packaging uses aluminum foil for both the forming layer and the lidding, providing superior moisture and light protection for highly hygroscopic or light-sensitive tablet formulations. Alu-Alu packaging is required by some national pharmacopoeias and ICH stability guidelines for tropical climate markets. HIJ blister machines support both formats.
